Innovation Report - "Competing in the Global Economy: the Innovation Challenge."

The Innovation Report was published on 17 December 2003, following wide consultation with stakeholders, Ministers and other Government Departments.
The Report looks at the contribution that innovation can make to driving up UK productivity and to achieving the vision of the UK as a key knowledge hub in the global economy. Building on progress made in previous innovation-focussed white papers it proposes action on those policies that will encourage UK businesses to increase their investment in new products and services with the aim of continuously increasing the value added. An online update on progress of implementing the Innovation Report was published in February 2005.

Stratégie économique de la région Nord-Est pour 2006
Improved communications, greater levels of population movement and increased mobility of industry are features of the 21st Century economy. To thrive economically as a region, we must identify areas of global competitive advantage – meeting our challenges head on and grasping opportunity. Within a UK context, we in the North East must work to close the economic gap between ourselves and the rest of the country – an output gap that currently stands at £8bn.
Closing this gap means improving levels of productivity, for example through increasing levels of business start ups and improving the skills of the workforce. It also means increasing economic participation, a significant part of which will be through addressing worklessness, a challenge which is particularly acute in the Northern regions.
We believe we can make a difference, and are ambitious and aspirational in our vision of the future. This revised Regional Economic Strategy sets out how we will meet the above challenges. London Skills Commission
This publication identifies how Information and Communication Technologies - computers, telephones, web - underpin business competitiveness for the small and medium sized organisations in the capital.
The ICT4SMEs Flagship Group, who commissioned the research, are looking to set the agenda for the London organisations responsible for offering business support, enabling them to more effectively deliver services.
This will mean that the private IT training and support companies, universities, colleges and public sector agencies will have a bigger impact on competitiveness in London and more importantly it should simplify the offer to business.
The ICTR4SMEs FRESA Flagship Group have a shared the aims and objectives for delivery of this agenda.
In line with these priorities E-Skills UK (the Sector Skills Council for ICT) have agreed to work with us on identifying how London can build on what it is already delivering to ensure all SMEs can access appropriate support. This will form part of their pilot activity in developing a 'Sector Skills Agreement'.
This group, led by Business Link for London, brings together the main planners, funders and deliverers of support for ICT skills and promotion of cutting edge technologies and is working on behalf of all the London Skills Commission organisations.

A propos du blog
Bienvenue sur le blog de Nicole Bény, Enissa Ben Moussa et Deyan Valtchev consacré à l'Intelligence territoriale en Grande Bretagne. Etudiants en Commerce et Management des Affaires Internationales à l'Université Lille1, nous réalisons ce projet dans le cadre du cours de Veille Economique de Mr Jean-Paul Pinte.
La notion d'Intelligence territoriale est à la fois récente et méconnue du grand public. Ainsi notre but est de présenter quelques éléments de précision pour mieux comprendre ce domaine et ensuite mener une étude sur l'IT en Grande Bretagne.

- Quelle est la place de l'IT en Grande Bretagne?
- Quels sont ses acteurs et quel est son impact sur l'économie britannique?

A travers cette étude, menée à l'aide des nouvelles techniques de veille (agents intelligents, métamoteurs, aspirateurs web etc), nous allons essayer de répondre à toutes ces questions.
